625km on a track bike in 24 hours

The fight against cancer has seen many riders attempt heroic distances on their bikes. Their brave and selfless efforts not only highlight the ongoing plight of millions of people worldwide, but for a lucky local hospice, national charity, family member or friend in need, it can give hope, support and much needed funds.

At the end of May this year, Dave Murphy, founder of www.fixcancer.net, will attempt one such heroic task, by cycling solo and non-stop from Mizen Head (Cork) to Malin Head (Donegal) on a track/fixed wheel bike. This is a distance of some 625 km, which the plucky rider aims to complete within 24 hrs. One incredibly hard task I am sure you will agree, and one that has never been attempted before over a head to head distance on a track bike in Ireland.

The bike Dave will ride during his epic adventure is a Condor Lavoro, fitted with Aerospoke Wheels, but we would slip on a motor of some sort for the hills!
