With the launch of the Barclays Cycle Hire Scheme imminent (July 30th!), Transport for London has recently released a wealth of new information about London's Tubes, buses and river services, in the hope that web developers will use it to create products such as apps (mobile phone applications) that will help passengers navigate the network. Developers can also use the data for commercial gain without the need to get permission from Transport for London (TfL).
With a whole eco system of apps already in existence for the London Tube, we can only hope that the same thing happens for the new cycle system, very much like the apps that have appeared around the Barcelona Bicing system.
